Default question about a brake problem

i talked to my friend today about my 92 teg and he said that there is something wrong with the brakes and hes not too sure what the exact problem is. he says the pedal is like a brick and doesnt help wiht brakeing at all, he said he had to use the ebrake to stop after he took it for a short test drive. he also said it runs like a "turd" which i guess could be ALOT of different things, but if anyone has ideas bout this let me kno. by the way he says he has new spark plugs in and he replaced the head with another cuz of a bent valve. thanks

Well I dunno about the engine problem as it could be a few thing but how do the rotors/brakes look? Do they need replacing? Check the brake fluid levels, are they low? Maybe you can bleed the system then fill it up and see if that helps.

If the brake pedal is "like a brick" as your friend stated, the problem is either the master cylinder or brake booster. Check the Vacuum hose for the booster, and try bleeding the air out of each caliper.

As for the engine, routine maintenance always helps. Spark Plug Wires, Plugs, Distributor cap, rotor, Fuel filter, Check ignition timing.

Does it have ABS? I would also check the booster and MC and see if anything looks out of the ordinary (hose etc.).
