CEL question
#1
Hey guys, I got a quick question for you.....again lol.... well alst ngiht i went to leave my girlfreidns house and when i turned on my car the CEL blinked ten times and then turned off, does anyone know what this means? the car has shown no ill performance in any way or whatnot and still is running great, I have not changed anything in the car. Also i turned it on this morning and it did the same thing....

Come on, someones gotta know here lol...

search next time.. im sure theres a thread for that on here already.. but honda-tech is the one i have bookmarked

Ummmmmm yeah.....i know what CEL stands for thanx lol......I was not using the paper clip method so i dont think its the IAT either.....I cleaned that like a month ago and all was good..... Basically all that happens when I start my car is the CEL lights up ten times for about a second and a half each blink....I had my freind at a shop check the ECU for codes and he said its not throwing any at all.....so what does this light mean? also my car has 233000km on it

How doesnt it make sense......I cleaned the Intake air tempo sensor and checked it a month ago......I am doing a project myself using a freescale semiconductors MC68HC12 MCU to desing and create my own ECU for purposes in an independant engineering project......I am in my fifth year of a five year program in systems acomputing engineering......the first phase of the ecu design was to hook its parallel ports up to the five main sensors that are actively fedback to the ecu and test their analog voltage range and amke sure it correctly correlates to the appropriate signal.....My IAT was tested in this manor using an ARM Embest FPGA board , utikizing labview to simulate the correct thermal signal to the IAT itself.....its volateg range was returned jsut as the part specs indicate.......
So ummmmmm, if your implying that me saying that i checked my IAT and cleaned it (which can have an effect on the thermal reading it negotitates) doesnt make sense, your wrong....If your saying that it doesnt make sense for my ECU to not be throwing a code, even though the lgiht is flashing then please elaborate cause this is where my confusioon lies as well.....

ummmm its not a matter of "messing with the ECU" as you put it, nor an issue of who told me too.....Nobody did, this is a project im doing myself for fun, im not messing wiht my ECU, im constructing one for the formula SAE racecar my engineering faculty built and designed....its a work in progress, but its what im currently doing.....I will be using some of the same sensors in my car for the build and hence was callibrating the ADC's on the HC12 MCU for the appropriate range.....How the hell is this messing wiht my ECU? I thoght for an engineer youd be more intuitive with these kninda things....
look dude I asked a question, "what does it mean when my CEL blinks 10 times on car start" I didnt wanna have to explain my enitre project to this board because of it....
If you dont have an answer for me and jsut wanna nit pick phrasing and such for my post and what i said I am doing then save it cause i really dont care....If you can be somewhat constructive then go for it....

Wow, just as I said earlier, if you got nothing constructive to say then dont.....and if your thinking suggesting a dif MCU is constructive, you yourself should know, if in fact you are an engineer, that a systen desiogn is not alwasy strictly bounded by best hardware for the job, as long as the hardware is adequate and the MANY other constraints and criteria are met....the HC12 was not choosen based strcitly on its mardware itself, but rather its architechture, interoperability, and common instruction set, as well as the fact that the particular flavour of HC12 we are using was a cheap, nicely sized portable eval board with all the hardware, mem, and compopnents we needed.....its a ground up build and design, and since im familiar wiht that families instructions et the assembler coding would be done failry quickly and easily.....
So laugh away, you perhaps didnt ask me to explain my project, but when you insinuated that what i stated earlier about checking and cleaning the sensor didnt make sense, i figured, since you were clearly trolling me, and wouldnt understand what i was trying to sayu unless i educated you on said subject I simply had to......otherwise im sure i woulda been met wiht many of the same sort of one line comments like "doesnt make sense".....
Grow up......like i said earlier if you cant answer my question, stay outta the convo....if you dont understand something then try and learn about ti wihtout being an ass...
