Default Shifter and tranny question

Hey guys,

So i had a clutch replacement done a couple of months ago, and all was well untill today. I was driving from my GF's house and when i took off i heard a light clank like a peice of metal falling, I backed up and got out of my car and saw a bolt on the ground, now i dont knwo if this is what i heard and if it came form me or not but i bet it did, cause when i got back in my car my shifter seemed much looser then before and would move side to side much more then usual.....if i let it lie where it feels like it goes to the right and i hear a slight grind around 2k rpm's, however if i hold it to the left i hear nothing and all seems well.......is this maybe a bolt that keeps my shift linkage straight or stablizies or somehting.....

Any input or advice would eb really appreciated, the car seems to run well but i dont wanna take a chance with this, I think i may take it to the shop on wednesday when im free, but is there anything i should expect or ask them to check or has anyone heard of naythign liek this before?

Jack up the car and look at the shift linkage, only way to find out.

Yeah thats what i thought, I just didn't know if there was something for me to be looking for....I mean since I started coming here I've learned a lot but I'm still relatively new to working on cars, I am a systems/computer engineer and understand most of everything once its explained or I work through something but im still learning about this car and other hondas

Anyone have anything to add, in regards to somehting i should look for or a common problem that could perhaps cause this...?

Check the shift rod connection up at the tranny. Although if the bolt fell out, I would think the rod would just fall down. Or at the bottom of the shift lever (under the car).

What size was the bolt you found?

ummm, i left it at my gf's, it was rather large probobly like about 12mm, but then again i havent looked at it in a few days, ill take a pic latter and post.....

I do have another question though.... I really only noticed the grinding part of it after two days ago.....mind you its not a big grind like if you missed a shift its jsut a lil grinding noise that happens once in a while.....I was thinking though I had a high flow cat put on and a new res two days ago, since im not feeling the grind in my clutch pedal or naything else, would it maybe make sene that the grind i feel in the stick is maybe just the cat vibrating on the base of the shifter.....like if it was mounted to close?

ummmm well I put the car in this morn, i figured with something like a potential bolt missing and possibly grinding coming from my tranny its better safe then sorry to get it checked.....as for where i found the bolt and or my synchro being out, it very well could be, i wouldnt rule anything out, though its neevr acted up b4 n ive never had a problem wiht it, but i guess it is possible it went right when this happened, ive seen stranger things....as for the bolt i simply heard somehting fall outta my car, or at least thats what it seemed like, so then i backed up and found the bolt on the road, i assumed it came from my car cause it had a lil bit of fresh lube or oil on the tip of the bolt thread...

Ok so i got my car back form the garage, and they didnt charge me for it cause they said the only problem is that when the performance place i got my cat and new 2.5" exhaust piping from welded it on they did so with the o2 bung pointing straight up and its currently pressed against the bottom of my shift linkage....Fuk, they r supposed to do this for a living, I wish i could weld myself.... as for the loose shifter, my mechanic said that they probobly popped off a spring and thats why it has so much play on the left side. So I booke dan appt to bring it back into the place that did my cat and have them fix it for tuesday......Blah....
