Top and bottom rebuild with after market pistons, cams, cam gears, valves, springs, retainers, intake, header, exhaust, and the ecu was socketed. I cut J1 in the ecu though so it should no longer be reading from the EPROM. I have also tried ECU's from two working cars.

I also pulled the distributor apart to check the resistance on the ignition coil and it tested properly according to the helms manual. This is driving me nuts...

So I got a compression gauge and found out there is 0 compression on all 4 cylinders. Tested the gauge on a working car and it worked fine, so it's not an issue with the gauge. Any ideas?

Default Zero Compression

Figured I should probably start a new thread for this. Fresh rebuilt motor, just put it in and it wont start. I have 0 compression across all 4 cylinders... Fuel and spark are OK. Any ideas on where to start.

Did you rebuild and if not, where did you get it?

I had the top and bottom done professionally. I bolted it all together and dropped it in. Valves, guides, seals, springs, and retainers were done on the head. Pistons, rings, boring, and bearings were done on the bottom. I did the head gasket, timing, and the rest.

zero compression wet and dry?

Is this the first time you're trying to start it after the bottom end rebuild?

with zero compression in all cyl I would say it is a timing problem.

So I put some air into the plug holes and find that no matter where in the stroke it seems the exhaust valves aren't closed. The intake valves seem OK as it doesn't seem air is escaping unless the valves are open. Is it possible that the exhaust valves will close properly after some adjustment? Or are they probably bent?

Try adjusting them. Are you sure the cam timing is correct?
