Default GSR Tranny vs. LS Tranny ?

Please help me out. I am trying to get my 92 LS ready for drag competitions next year, and I am trying to decide whether I should keep my LS tranny, or spend the money and switch to a GSr tranny. People keep telling me that the GSR tranny is better for drag racing because the gears are shorter. I did some research however, and from the 2 sources that I found, the first three gears of the GSR tranny are the same ratio as the first 3 gears of the LS tranny! Has anyone ever compared the 2 trannies before ? IS the GSR tranny really better for drag ? And is the performance difference worth the cost of changing my tranny from an LS to a GSR ?

I've been told that LS is better for forced induction..... thats about all he help i can offer you. maybe check integra.vtec.net ??? that might have the gear ratios too for another source.

i think if it was me though, id keep what i had and take that money for your tranny and sink it into other motor stuff....

If you're gonna go with forced induction, stay with the LS tranny because it's got "longer" gears so you'll be less likely to run out of gear when youre haulin arse.

Though, it'd take a lot to do that on the gsr tranny anyway.
I'd stay with the LS, it's fine.

although you may think the first 3 gears are the same on both trannies, you forgot to take into consideration the final drive... the GSR will eat up the LS in 3rd. get the GSR tranny.

The first and second gear ratios are the same, GSR has shorter 3rd, 4th, and 5th. With the shorter final drive as well, this means every gear is shorter than the LS. B16 tranny here I come
