Default Advice for buying a 95 gsr. *pics inside*

Hey guys I am new to this particular board and Will be buying a 1995 integra gsr. I found one i really like, but haven't test driven or anything yet.(GOing up to seatle to do so on Fri.) The seller wants $6900. (I think that's alot!) The car has 90k miles on it and the only work that has been done on it is, the sterio, body and rims. Since i'm not completely familiar with integra's, is their any advice you can give me before i would buy this? Such as if at 90k is it time to replace clutch, timing belt, etc.

Welcome to the board.

I know taste is a subjective thing... but I wouldn't give him 69˘ for that particular car.
The hood, bodykit and rims just need to go. :ugh:

As far as major maintenance items are concerned, the big one is the timing belt / tensioner / water pump.

The replacement interval is 95K to 100K miles (or every six years) and it's absolutely critical. There's also a time component, so if that car still has it's original timing belt, I'd be nervous about getting it changed ASAP.

As always, use CARFAX to check the history.
Maintenance records are a definite plus; I personally consider them mandatory.

But to be completely honest... with all the DC Integras sold in the US, I would keep looking for one that hasn't been ruined with a horrid kit. h:

The rims are HUGE... :noes: Can't go with 18s on a DC.

Salvage / Rebuilt titles are an instant deal killer in my book.
And those rims are ghastly.

I've yet to see a single bodykit for the Integra that improves on the original design.
Take a look at our Integra Gallery to get an idea of what I'm talking about..

Less is more.

What makes you think that the words "deal killer" have a positive connotation? :eh:

Stay the hell away from a salvage or rebuilt title car. Period.

lol, thats what i thought. You know the teen lingo changes so it could have mysteriously been a good thing... I've been searching for an integra that is beautiful and under 7k. The one's that don't have some body work are usually beet to shit around the nothwest. (I like stock cars, My project car is a 93 mazda mx6. She's a beast. So i need an Integra as my DD.) Been having one hell of a time finding one i like. I really want and integra with the gsr motor as well as it being fully loaded, lthr, etc.

If price is your major concern, stop looking at modified cars.

The cars you've posted are from people who believe that the money invested in mods justifies an inflated sales price. These people are delusional (and frankly, it shows in the design decisions they've made).

Also, if your MX6 is going to be your project car, you can save money on insurance and petrol by going with an RS, LS or GS Integra. Sure, they don't come with the B18C1 motor, but the leather interior is an easy swap and they still benefit from plenty of aftermarket support.
