just curious what kinds of problems you have all run into with salvage title cars? i'm sure there is a wide range and lots of horror stories...i'm curious because my car has a salvage title after my old crackhead roommate stole it (long story). i realized it wouldn't be as valuable afterwards, but plan on driving it into the ground. The real reason for my 94gsr being totaled was minor body damage that the dealer wanted a huge amount of $ to fix, and i got taken care of at a dent guy for far less.

Sorry if this is jacking the thread too far, but thought some responses might have good info for all concerned.

^ my car was a salvaged 97 gsr for $5,500.

Other than the normal problems with a used car and shitty resale value, I think buying a salvaged car is fine. The body won't withstand another collision like a clean title car and most likely the body was just pulled straight again by some shop. Insurence will be higher for the younger owners. You will run into problems with what actual years the parts on the car has. I know my distributor is a b16 for some reason on my b18c1.

Other than those, you get a price cut of $2000-3000 less then the what the normal car would cost so use that as a bunker to fix whatever it is the car needs.

You can find Gsr salvaged titled aunction cars for $2000-2,500.
