Default brake issue

I had a problem wiht my brakes. When driving i have alot of noise (scraping). I checked the brake disc and found that they are warped. All four are in the same condition. The first time i had this problem I had the rotors spun and replaced the pads. 2 months later it happened again. My question is what caused this and will changing the discs and pads save me from having to do this again?

You may have a forzen caliper and/or frozen slide pins. I would check every caliper piston and make sure they compress all the way in(front) and turn all the way in(rear). Then I would check the slide pins and make sure those aren't seized into the caliper mounting bracket. Were your pads worn abnormally(slanted surface, one is more worn than the other)?

Having the rotors resurfaced won't really get rid of the warping problem. If it was only happening to one rotor, I would look at a frozen caliper problem. Since it happened to all of them, replace the rotors and pads...should be good to go.

I did some visual inspections not much wear on the pads. They may have about 3-4k on them, so still fairly new. I did check the reservoir and the fluid was getting low will a leaking caliper cause any of the above problems?

yeah check that all the pins are free to move. for a quick check after a some good city driving touch your calipers and see if if both fronts are about about the same temp and do the same for the rear. If one is noticicably hottter it is probably hung up to some degree.

:werd: Also a softer than normal pedal is a sign of a stuck caliper or slide pin.

How so?

I know with drum brakes if the little racheting adjuster gets stuck it can make your brakes soft (more distance to move pad before it contacts the drum) how does this happen with disc brakes?

Because if you have a stuck caliper slider, the caliper piston would have to move out more than it has to and cause the pedal to have a softer feel and it would feel like you need more pedal travel to get brakes.

When I'm at work and i have a car with a softer than normal pedal, thats the first thing I go to after I look at the reservior.
