Default Clutch acting funny?

The other day I started my car up and was trying to back up and stalled the car. I realised that the clutch had to be almost pushed to the floor for it to engage. I looked at the Fluid and it was really low, so I put some more fluid in and pumped it a little and then it was fine, but now, if I let the car sit for a prolonged period of time, like over night, the clutch does back down to the floor untill I drive it around a little bit, then it pretty much goes back to normal. I checked the fluids again, but this time they are normal? What gives?

It's a 94 RS with almost 72,000 miles.

Has the clutch fluid ever been flushed? I flushed the fluid on my 97 gsr with 90 k recently and it improved pedal feel. Do this and see if this would cure the problem, otherwise it's the master or slave cylinder (I don't know which, other member please chime in).

Ok, I'll bleed it first then refill it with completely new fluid and we'll see if that cures the problem.

You need to figure out where the fluid went. Replace the faulty part and bleed the system.

It's real easy to bleed the clutch on my car (YMMV), I didn't event need to pump the clutch, just open the bleeder on slave cylinder and add brake fluid to the reservor the fluid would drain by gravity. I did pump the padel(it'll sink to the floor, just pull it back up) by hand a few times to speed things up a bit though. Good luck.

I had the same problem in my teg, it was definitely the clutch master cylinder.

make sure when you buy a new master cyl, that you buy a new slave as well.
