Default ACL issues RODS & MAIN

Ok i have a complete set of ACL bearing, but they are all standard so as far as clearance issues can i use them even if my crank isnt all standard. I prefer the people who have used ACL for a few builds, because someone who going off of another persons experience. Is it preferred to mix and match acl with oem?

Yes I believe most people mix and match. Since ACL bearings maybe fine for some journals and too big/small or others. Jeff Evans has a great write up on this I believe.

Is your crank in OEM condition?

ACL Bearings are all the same thickness as "Green" Honda bearings. If your going to use them, Plasti-gauge your clearances! Be sure they fall within tolerance. I guess you could mix and match with OEM's to achieve the optimal Oil Clearance, but it defeats the purpose IMO.

I rather use a Bore gauge or a micrometer, because plasti gauge can lie. ACL also makes Under and Over sized bearing also

Yes but the after-market over sizes come in larger increments than OEM. Over sized/Under Sized bearings are used when the crankshaft is ground & re-surfaced (which Honda does not recommend!). When you order ACL .010" over, your still getting a "green" sized bearing. They are just .010" thicker, and there is no available "step sizes" to adjust your oil clearance to honda's precise requirement.

A dial bore gauge is excellent to measure the bores, and a micrometer will measure the bearing thickness - but how can you be positive of your oil clearance? If funds allow, use them! I still recommend plasti-gauge to double check, however.

I had the crank sent to a remanufacture company (Napa) where they completely redone the whole crank (weld new journals) machined to factory spec. So, i guessing all greens all the way across. The rods are eagle rods.
