Default Spark Plug Stuck

95 Acura Integra, Special Edition, Automatic, 4 cyl.

Mechanic broke a spark plug and piece is stuck (car still starts and runs). What tool can I use to try to get it out?

Is the "broken" plug firing? Running on three cylinders?

The reason I ask is that if the car is running normally, spark plugs are easier to remove from a warm engine.

Even if the ceramic/tip is busted all you should need is a socket and plenty of leverage. Try to get any fragments out of the hole with a shop vac before removing the brpken plug.

I think it's firing because the spark plug cap flies up and down. It's not actually running normally. It sounds like a sick truck and I can smell gas.

yea, it's probably running on 3 cylinders. Sounds like a wrx? your getting lots of fuel / air but no spark so that one cyl is just flooding. What part of the spark plug broke?

If it's just the threads stuck in there then you may have to drill it out.

Is the head rounded off or is there just the threaded portion left?

Dang. I really don't know if it needs drilling or not. I'll try the socket, but the mechanic who broke it said he tried and couldn't get it loose.

Exactly how dangerous is it for me to drive on it as it is?

I did a google search, "easy-out" was mentioned frequently. I don't have any personal experience though.

Even the though the spark plug broke, the part you grab with the socket should still be available. Ok...so hit it with some PB plaster, let it soak for 5 minutes and it should come free. Righty tighty left loosey. Don't worry about the pb blaster it will burn off quick once you start sparking again. No big deal.
