Default Engine thoughts

Ok... I have ocme to realize that aside from turbo there is not much that I can do to get what I want out of my teg without getting another heart... I want vtec, and I want more power than my LS... I am thinking about 3 options... Imput is welcome... planning on staying under 2500 for the engine alone...

B20 block with GSR head

B18b block with GSR head

and I also heard that similar results can be gained by installing an LS crank, rod, and piston setup into a Gsr block, and keeping the GSR head, thus eliminating the LS/Vtec. I do want to turbo probably next summer.

experience is welcome

Since you are going to boost it, I would suggest keeping the B18B bottom end. Why don't you boost now and worry about vtec later if the need for it arises?

^ agree with him. plus you'll be saving money, have seen my uncle do an LS/VTEC conversion and it gave him headaches for days, he will tell you if turbocharging an tegi VTEC doesn't really matter, unless you prefer it, and like the extra kick.

LS/Vtec is not as difficult as everbody makes it out to be. Things have gotten alot easier over the years. And to put LS internals inside of a GSR would just be a waste of money, IMO.

Just buy a turbo setup now, and if you desire more power - go LS/Vtec (As stated above)

Doh! I just realized your car is automatic.

Unfortunately, your transmission will not hold up for much extra power. You might look into a few other options. Either a swap, or auto -> Manual conversion before you boost.

I was planning on doing the 5 speed swap anyway... I just figured why not add a new engine for the power...

You can do the auto-manual swap with your B18B and then boost it...that would be the cheapest, most bang for buck route.
