For the time being just get an LS/GS manual tranny. It will save you a few bucks.

I say do it right the first time and at least look for a GSR tranny. The gear ratio will make the car more fun to drive, boosted or not.

type R too much to bite off? How big of a difference would I notice?

i have experience with both, i prefer the ITR tranny, lsd and the shorter gear ratio's make it a good time!

itr tranny will accelerate quicker, has lsd, but you'll be cruising at higher rpms and it's more expensive. if you can deal with that, go for it.

Not if you can afford it. The LSD plus super short gear ratios are awesome for a low boost, street driven car.

actually no from the dealership a gsr and ITr tranny are the same price, i know cause when the shop fucked up the install on my LSD into my GSR tranny, the shop bought me a brand new ITR tranny...

that's if he wanted to buy a brand new tranny for $2400. you'll find used itr tranny's starting at $1000 and gsr tranny's at $500.
