I'm willing to bet that under certain conditions, your's would work better if you had AC.
What about cars that don't have AC, but do have defrost.........

Thanks for all the posts. It is sounding more and more like the diverter motor based on what I'm reading. The A/C works fine and blows great out of the middle vents. Heat works great from middle and floor vents. The problem seems to be the windshield vents that only seem to 'open' when in combination mode.

With the damp winters here in Atlanta I'd like to get this fixed before winter kicks in.

Anybody have any ideas how difficult this would be to find / replace?

Well it obviously still works, as you've experienced.

I'm not saying all cars need AC for the defroster to work, but it does help.

I use that Rain-X Defrost stuff, you wipe it on the inside of the windshield. It resists water.

I'd suggest a haynes manual, there $10 - $15 at most autoparts stores. Can't be too complicated. I don't really have much experience on the 2nd generation Integras, so unfortunately I have no advice for you. It sounds like your on the right track though.

I wouldn't mess with it if the A/C works and the windshield vents work on combination mode. This is all I've used for years because mine is messed up too. Otherwise, $$$ and time.
