If the belt went, you need to make sure you didn't bend any valves, rods, etc. Your head should come off and everything needs to be checked for signs of collision.

holy #@$% a shop charging only $400 to do a timing belt replace...that's not much at all.

definitely have someone remove the head and inspect everything for signs of damage, because when the timing belt snaps, it's possible for there to be some bent valves, possibly other stuff.
