Motor Build Question [Split from ITR Side Skirt Thread]

your on the right track. If you want to be completely safe you could always look at a dart block. For around $1800 you get a virtually bulletproof bottom end. This would be an excellent substitute to sleeving. You could get an aftermarket block griddle, Golden Eagle makes one.

BTW, I'm not disagreeing with your statement, just showing you something I read. What type of machining still needs to be done prior to use?

from reading a few threads on h-t about people with their blocks, it looks like you'll need to have it decked, bored and honed, align honed, at the least.
remember that it is completely bare. the only thing it comes with are the main caps and freeze plugs. in all seriousness, unless it's for a dedicated track car, just sleeve your stock block.

yeah sleeving i already agreed to, first of all im only trying to achive 300-350HP, so i dont think i would need an dart block, also the $1800 is a lil too much for my budget, im sure with right internals that my motor should hold up 300WHP with no problems.

Sleeving is so incredibly overkill on a setup only making 300-350 whp. But hey, if you want to waste money on it, be my guest. Funny how you want to sleeve it, but cheese out on the most important part of the turbo setup.
You are definitely not even close to being ready to pursue a project this large; you are in waaaay over your head.

Schmoo have you not read my other posts, pistons and Rods are going in for sure, i just wanted to know what other safety precautions i could take, also im gonna go with the Hondata, GSSR already explained to me why not to use the VAFC, im just a bit curious to know what other small things you guys put into your engine to protect it from overheating,Blowing, not geeting enough spark etc.... its better to do it correct the first time, thats what im trying to do, and please i appreciate any help.
