Brakes and Rotars...
Well, on my '97 GSR... it's starting to shake when i hit the brake, so i need some suggestions on what BRAKE PADS and ROTARS to get.
Should I just get the plain old stock on's again or are there preformance ones that last longer and preform better?
Thanks!

I got the brake kit from collettimotorsports.com...it has Hawk HP+ pads (I had them substitute the HPS pads), Brembo rotors, stainless brake lines and Ate brake fluid...all the stuff you need to do all 4 wheels (except tools of course).

I haven't installed the brakes yet...just got them last week, and they didn't have the lines in stock so I'm waiting for those.

From what I know you have the following choices:
A. Get the rotors machined, in which case you pay for the machining and new pads. The only draw back is the warpage could come back, which happend to me before in which that is when Acura replaced the rotors and pads under warranty.
B. Get new rotors and pads. I personally would stick with OEM, but I'm sure everyone here has there opinion on this what replacements to get.
Hope this helps you..

Get Brembo blank rotors; cheap and effective. They used to sell for $20 each at collettimotorsports.com. Resurfacing your rotors is the biggest waste of money IMO; makes the rotor weaker and cost just as much for labour.
As for brake pads...I've heard the Hawks are too aggressive for the street (dust + noise). I love my Axxis Metalmasters...lots of dust but it's ridiculously easy to clean. They've taken me through one track day and several autocross events.

For typical street use, the main cause of rotor warpage is due to the apes at the garage not using a torque wrench to tighten the lug nuts. They should be torqued to 80 ft-lbs.
I've always done this and I've never had a problem with warped rotors.

Yep, improper lugnut torque causes most of the problems.
That Brembo package seems kind of expensive from Colletti....I usually get f&r HPS pads for $99 shipped, and the rotors should be around $100 total from Colletti...the lines are another $120.
If anyone needs them, I can score them the lines and HPS', but not the rotors.
That is a great setup IMO...the HPS' arent too agressive for the street, and with the brembo blanks & goodridge lines, thats a great affordable brake setup.

Also, I've heard that washing your car right after you drive it can warp the rotors. Cold water on hot rotors, etc. Also, cranking the emergency brake after driving the car hard may affect the rear rotors. These may be myths but they make sense to me.
