Default RS-R Rr ticking after shut down...

Hey guys,
I have a 99 GS-R with suspension and several bolt on's. Ever since I installed my RS-R exmag I noticed a ticking noise after the car is off (can't hear while running, but not saying it doesnt). I've removed all the heat shields to eliminate posibilities, but no luck. The noise seems to be coming from the resonator/middle of the car. Any ideas? Thanks...

Sounds like a normal expansion/contraction of the metal as it is cooling off.

That's what I thought at first (break in), but it's been about four month's now. The sound isn't intimidating at all, a bit annoying when walking away...but nothing serious. Just thought I would see if I'm the only one, and if there's a quick fix.

As for the "expansion/contraction", definitely feasible. I'll have to see if it's after any time running, or only after warm up. Thanks bud.

That's normal. Most exhausts do that anyway. Nothing to worry about.

It is the resonator under the car. The fat part of the exhaust. I can almost guarantee it. I had the same problem w/an exhaust at one time. It does it when it is on too, but you hear it more when it is shut off. It's a tick and after every tick it sounds like a little timy breathe of air burning off then a couple of seconds later it ticks again and just keeps doing it until the car cools down. So yeah, w/that being said, your resonator is busted up somewhere inside. You could have hit something or it just may be defective from the factory. I would look into a warranty.

I have an RSR exmag on my 95 Gsr and it does the ticking thing when I shut my car down too. I guess it is normal.

Well then I guess it is normal for RSR to have a fucked up resonator, cause I am pretty sure that is what it is. If it were so normal more people would be bringing it up. IMO.
