Default i got my new motor

I blew my old motor and handed the car over to a shop for a new motor. I wanted just the stock motor for my 95 Integra LS...b18b. Well I got the car back today and it seems much faster and runs much smoother which is nice...but...I looked at the motor after I left and it says B20B on it. I am realizing as I look around that the b20b has less horsepower and costs less. Is this worth raising hell with the shop over? He charged me $950 for the motor. Is there a way to make a b20b vtec?

what motor did you want to install? if you asked for a b20 you got one, is it a b20b or b20z?

also golden eagle sells the vtec conversion kit, you'll also need a vtec head and you'll probably want to at least upgrade the rod bolts.

This all depends on your long term goals with this car... In my opinion, a running b20b installed is worth $950.
What ECU is in your car? What year is the car? You might have problems passing inspection.

A b20 Vtec setup can be done, and prodouce excellent numbers but not without first upgrading the internals of the engine. A Stock B20 just cannot support the high revving of a VTEC motor. And this is merely an assumption, but judging by your decision to have the engine installed - you probably don't possess the mechanical knowledge needed for building a b20 Vtec.

Well I just wanted a stock b18b, but I later found out he gave me a b20b...and after looking at some websites I feel ripped off...they have less horsepower and cost less, even though he charged me for a b18b....the most EXPENSIVE b20b long block I can find is $700, but I paid $1150 including shipping. It ended up being 2600 out the door...engine, install, motor mounts, clutch, flywheel, oil, filter, belt, and some new gaskets.

i would talk to the guy about it. you should have goten what you wanted, and infact you probably should have gotten the motor yourself and shouldn't of relyed on him finding the right one, some of these guys just say "is it cheaper? is it nearly the same? i'll take that"

Well all my freinds have him work on there imports...and he himself has a 850hp evolution, and most of what he works on is imports. But I am going to go talk to him this morning about it. He said he would pick out the motor cause the place he goes to lets him choose the cleanest motor he can find...but I think a guy like him could see the difference between a b18b and a b20b.
