Default Quieter muffler without losing power.

I currently have a dual pipe magnaflow muffler with stock plumbing. I don't mind a little noise and I definalely prefer a deeper tone, but I don't like that its so loud especialy at the lower RMPs. What I'd really like is a quieter muffler that has a deep tone and gets loud at above 5000rpm. If such a thing does not exist then I guess I'll made due with a simply quieter muffler, I just am not very willing to lose acceleration or gas milage. Any advice will do. I'm considering returning to a stock type muffler and any advice on the pro's and con's would be awesome.

I have the RS*R Ex-mag and love it. From what I've read its the best performing quiet cat back. Unfortunately the near stock appearance and low rumble are accompanied by a steep price (you definitely get what you pay for). Not sure if its true, but I read somewhere they were discontinued...

Not to sound like a broken record, but please use our search engine.
This topic is covered twice a week at least, I swear.. h:

You've got a third-gen Integra coupe, correct?
(94-01 model year, inclusive)

If so, the best solution IMO is the Apex'i World Sport II cat-back. I have one on my DC4 and could not be happier.

Run a search for "Apexi WS2" in this forum, you'll see for yourself just how well the system is reviewed.

Suffice to say, it's damn near perfect for a civil sounding performance exhaust.

What about just a muffler. I wouldn't mind going with a stock type muffler I just don't want to lose any power. I don't have the money to upgrade to a catback system, as much as I'd like to. How much loss would I see if I switched back to one of those cheap stock type mufflers from my magnaflow? If the answer's none then that seems like my best bet. If there are any stand-alone mufflers that will give me good performance without too much noise that would be best.

A muffler will not give you any meaningful increase in performance if you haven't done the rest of your exhaust. If you have done the rest, the muffler is still the weak link in the lineup, most of the gains are in the header, cat, and b-pipe.

If you want a great quiet muffler, get the stock ITR muffler. (if this is a DC2)

I'm not 100% sure about that. Better check with a dealership. On gen2s, the muffler was the same on both the 2dr and 4dr with manual trans. Not sure about gen3.
