Default Radiator Reservoir

Okay, I've never seen this before...so here it goes. I was driving my 97 GSR the other day and when i turned the car off and began to get out, I heard a rumbling noise under the hood. So I popped the hood and noticed that the water in reservoir for the radiator was bubbling and boiling. What would cause this to happen? It has never done this before. Looks like it's about to blow its top...like it has no air hole to vent.

Your problem is that the radiator is boiling over. Have your fluid changed and check for cracks in the radiator. A stipulation of radiator fluids ability to reach high temps without boiling is that it has to be under pressure. I had a crack in my radiator(nothing you would notice) that leaked out the pressure and caused the fluid to reach boiling point at regular atmosphere pressure. Boiling radiator fluid sounds like a freshly poured fizzy soda.

Good Luck

Also if the pressure from the cylinders are leaking into the cooling system you get those problems too . If you had a crack in the radiator there would be a leak . Also you are trying to diag a car over the internet it could be a million things just throwing things out that cause the problem .

Alright, well I just got done draining, flushing, and refilling my radiator with new coolent. So I guess we'll see how she does within the next few days.
