Default CEL just curious...

aight so my CEL has been on for about a week now and I haven't had the gas to drive it to find the code, but tomorrow I'm going to get oil changed and junk and gonna see about the code... here's my question though, it came on this exact same time last year and it was the code where if the gas cap isn't on tight and i really think it is the same this year. could this be caused by my fuel pump going bad(this time) b/c i read somewhere recently that running on low fuel regularly adds stress to it and could cause it to die out sooner? (i'm a poor college kid so what do you expect) i'll update with the code tomorrow, but i'm about 75% on it being the same... it also came on when i was really LOW on fuel on my way to the gas station.

Check the code and find out, there's no other way to know. I ran my tank near empty once a week and never had a problem.

i run my civic empty a few times a year never had any problems after re-fueling. heres the scoop-- a bad fuel pump will not set a check engine light. it is not monitered by the computer. also, honda fuel pumps NEVER go out. if it is, then you got a rare one on your hands. asian fuel pumps are of a different design (a more reliable and quieter design) than american ones. i have never seen a honda fuel pump go bad check your gas cap and see if it is tight. if its not then tighten it and have your light cleared

116 posts and you don't know how to jump the service connector to get a CEL code.

Of all the reasons to revive a thread... why reopen a debate over the reliability of a fuel pump?

Let it drop. Please.

Uh, be careful, you could fry your ecu jumping the wrong ones.
