what is a N/A b18b motor?
#2
Naturally (or normally) aspirated 1.8 liter b series motor.
N/A = not turbocharged
b18b or b18a = non vtec bseries motor
b18c1 = gsr motor
b18c5 = type r motor
Thats the best I can do without going real in depth. You might want to check the FAQ at the top of this forum, has all the specs of the various engines availible in the Integra.

All it's really going to give is the specifications at this point.. which doesn't answer your question fully. I'm planning a new FAQ that will be much more useful. :run:

When people talk about a Naturally Aspirated B18B1, they are referring to a specific method of tuning the stock B18B1 motor.
Unlike Forced Induction motors....Naturally Aspirated motors do not use a turbo or superchager to force intake air into the motor.
Instead, an N/A tuned motor relies upon high compression ratios, high-lift, long-endurance cams and very efficient exhaust and intake plumbing to maximize the volume of air drawn into the engine.
To learn more about both N/A and Forced Induction tuning, pick up Mike Kojima's book, Honda/Acura Engine Perfomance. For the money, it's a great way to learn the basics and make informed decisions. It sells for about $18. (ISBN:1-55788-384-X)
Also, run a search in the Integra forum. Lookup "cams" under my screen name and you'll find my explanation on how camshaft grinds and timing differ between NA and FI motors.

The fundamental dynamics of tuning are the same, whether you're building an N/A SR20VE or an N/A B18C1. Sure, Nissan's VVL system is mechanically different from Honda's VTEC, but the basics don't change.
I learned my NA tuning on a MKII GTi 16v. I tore down the head, had it P&P'd and decked, then fitted a new valvetrain and hotter cams. Are you saying that the principles I learned on a VW don't apply to a Honda?

Check your local library too.
I wouldn't be surprised if they have it.

Likewise, I was only speaking to the engineering.
In retrospect, I probably went a little too far to make a point.. h:
