Default Will my struts off my 99 GSR fit my bro's 96 RS?

His car has 210k on it and he's waiting until end of yr. blowouts to buy a new ride so he does not want too much money on it and I have my struts in the garage. I checked the part numbers.

Gsr front: 51601st7942
Gsr rear: 52610st7921

RS Front: 51601st7962
RS rear: 52610st7921

So obviously the rear will fit, but what about the front? Is the last 2 digits being different gonna make that big of a difference?

I would say it is pretty likely that they will work, I haven't found any aftermarket brands that sell different types of suspension if you have a 96 rs vs. a 99 Gsr. If they don't work I have my old front rear oem suspension from my 01 LS with 50k on them. Good luck!

Any idea why the part number for the front is different then? I'd hate to tear down the strut assembly and find out it is not going to work. However I do trust your knowledge Schmoo, but why the slight diff. in the part number?

I really have no idea.

I do know that 94-01 non-ITR suspensions are interchangeable, so it doesn't make sense that the part numbers are different.

Cool. I'll let him know so we can change out his struts.

The parts will fit, I thought the GSR had different springs and struts to go with the strut tower bar and bigger sway bars, same dimensions, stiffer
