reading up even searched on here about the inserts and glue
i have a customer and i want to save her some money when she brings her car in to change the mounts i read that the inserts are good they make the engine more stable but rattling occurs i do not understand how rattling occurs but the engine is more stable:hsdunno: so what i was wondering is since she won't race her car will the glue keep the motor stable and not rattle or will that occur and how long will this glue last thanks for the help

 

I don't know about the glue, but I've read inserts will stiffen the mounts which will transmit more vibration. I thought poly inserts were zip tied (judging from the catalog pics)?
I've also read that if the mounts are already torn, the inserts won't help.

How about getting used OEM ones to save her money and stay somewhat vibe free? Unless your labor to just install inserts is where the savings is coming from.

 

Mount inserts will transmit too much vibration for the average consumer.

Glue is simply an unreliable solution IMO. It's grimy and hot down there, so there is no guarantee that the glue will permanently bond. And again, yoi may get into a situation where too much vibration is transferred to the body of the car.

I would just replace the OEM mounts with new ones. Since a new set of mounts will last at least 150,000 miles, the cost is very low over the life of the vehicle.

na man its an older lady and the motor mounts are lk 90 for the two she needs and i was tellin her about the inserts to try and save her money but thats not going to do what i'll probably do it is just hook her up w/ some glue and not charge her that much just to glue them while they're in the car and then when she gets the money together i'll put some good mounts in them i go to the u pull it alot by my house and i lk to look at the hondas none and i mean none of those mounts are not torn thanks for the advice

How about filling them up with polyurethane? my mounts were almost broken off all the way when we filled them up with polyurethane (got it at Home Depot) and they are great. Now I used the really stiff kind and they are really hard and there is not that much vibration. Also i can feel an improvement when it drive it.

 

Use factory mounts. I've worked as a pro mechanic and the liability is not worth the risk. Anyone that can't afford $90 parts plus labour needs to:

A) Learn to do their own labour
B) Get a job.
C) Get lost and deal with a broken car.

 

That actually works quite well, and is actaully not a bad fix. The new polyurethane mates to the old polyurethane fills in cracks, gaps and what not and makes it like it was never damaged.
