1999 GSR CEL Code 72 - HELP!
Hi,
I am a NOOB and having problem with my daughter's 1999 Integra GSR.
The CEL is blinking and the code seems to be 7 long and 2 short flashes.
The engine starts but idle is very rough and slow and wants to cut out.
The 72 code points to a cylinder 2 misfire. Another strange thing is the
engine is noisier than usual and when I checked the oil it was 1.5 quarts low and was changed recently. Did not find any oil leaks or notice that
it has been burning oil. No smoke from the exhaust that I could see.
Recently the maintenance light came but searched here and found that it
is mileage based and I turned it off with the blue button under the steering wheel. I would appreciate any help.
Thanks,
Don
Update 05/08/2006 - Found that my daughter wanted to downshift into 4th gear and instead
hit 2nd gear and accelerated doing at least 60 mph. Engine made a loud pop! and I can guess the RPM's probably hit the ceiling. I'm guessing that the engine is toast. Any suggestions would
be appreciated.
Thanks
