I will be ripping it apart again tonight to see if I can find that improperly installed valve spring.

Schmoo, jw, how/what did you use to remove your valve seals? and if it was a specialty tool, where did you get it? im breaking down my old b18b right now and those seals are all that are left. ive heard people using pliers on them but the metal the seals are made of bend really easy, any help appreciated

After 148k miles on mine, they were a little stubborn, so you just have to keep pulling and wiggling until they come off.

Update:
I got the GSR springs back in there and the ticking is gone. I went through all the ITR springs beforehand to see if I messed up installing them and they were all good, so I can't really figure out why they were making so much noise. At this point, I don't really care since I am so pissed that I had to go through all that effort and in the end, just had to put the stock ones back in.
The whole weekend was just a huge mindfuck, so hopefully after a valve adjustment, the valvetrain will sound like it did before I decided to mess it all up.

I hate when that happens. It seems like just about everytime I decide to go out and tackle a project or issue with my car, I just end up making things worse or accomplishing nothing.
