Or two, Type R springs are wound just a bit in difference for the higher lift cams they support and this is the noise that it yields. They are wrong. I started a thread about that on honda-tech and there shouldn't be a noticable difference in sound. The guy I bought them from claimed they only had 30k kilometers on them and they looked like they did compared to my old valvesprings.

I am going to be ripping it apart again today after work and putting my old valvesprings in since I know those worked.

I was about to say... a noise valvespring sounds like it might be binding at full lift. Talk about your ticking timebombs. :noes:

Yeah, I am thinking I put one of the exhaust springs on upside down, so the tightly coiled part that is supposed to be toward the head is against the retainer. That would add extra mass causing the noise.

Is it possible, now just brain storming here. Maybe, just maybe...the ITR valve springs and CTR cams won't work together w/o the exception of this noise??? Did you consider CTR valve springs? Would that have even fit? Not sure, just saying...

All vtec springs are interchangeable. I don't think it is a problem with the springs, but rather my installation. I am going to be ripping it apart tonight anyway. If I can't find the spring that is upside down, I am going to be pulling them all out and putting the stock ones back in. If the noise is still there after that, I am going to be looking at a new head since something is jacked up beyond what I can fix with it on the car.

I am still trying to determine why it bent. I am thinking that the spring bound and wouldn't let the valve back up and it contacted the piston upon start up. The timing was good too, so I have a feeling it was a valvetrain malfunction.

They were used. The seller said they had 30k km on them and they looked like they did. I think it was an installation error, not a spring problem.
