Default Is an Integra a good starting car?

Hi everyone, I've been wanting to buy a car for a long time and I finally saved up enough for one!

I don't have much experience with cars but I want to learn. I have about $4-5k to spend and I really like to get a 94-95 Integra LS. I want something where I can start by doing small simple upgrades to it then eventually work up to something big, like a turbo or something. So is that a good car for someone who doesn't know how to do any mods but wants to learn? I also considered Prelude or Civics, but seems like an Integra is better. (more aftermarket parts, faster)

Oh yeah, completely unrelated, but how do you guys pay for insurance for a 94-95ish teg? Would a Prelude or Civic would be cheaper?

Default Integra and money

Take it from me! Have anything you might buy, thoroughly checked out
be a profesional. I learned the hard way. I've doubled my initial investment. The car will great, but I've had replace almost everything.

Compression test
leak down test
car fax
mechanic going over the car carefully
do not take anyone's word as the truth

Good luck,

the integra is a great first car. the ls is pretty quick, runs on regular (not premium) good gas mileage, looks good and fun to modify. if you're a college student on a budget, i would probably reccomend the LS over a prelude Si because the prelude needs premium. and listen to these guys, whichever car you get, BEFORE you pay the seller, bring the car to a HONDA/ACURA DEALER for a full pre-purchase diagnostic. the $100 you spend could save you throusands. literally.
