i'd suggest you go with an integra, if you have had your license and a clean driving record and are now 22 the insurance probably wont rape you on it.

i'd try and find a clean one for about 5k if you could and spend as much as possible on maitanince to bring it up to speed.

Cool, thx guys for the replies.

About the pre-purchase diagnostic, do I just go to any Honda/Acura dealership and they would be able to do it? Is there a diff between getting a regular mechanic to take a look at it?

yeah, the honda/acura dealer will cost more, but they're guaranteed to know their shit. think about it, you want someone who KNOWS the car, to check it out before you buy it. don't cheap out, go to the dealer. it's worth it. besides, that way, if something's wrong, you can use it to work on the price if it's not major.

I don't have much experience with cars but I want to learn. I have about $4-5k to spend and I really like to get a 94-95 Integra LS. I want something where I can start by doing small simple upgrades to it then eventually work up to something big, like a turbo or something. So is that a good car for someone who doesn't know how to do any mods but wants to learn? I also considered Prelude or Civics, but seems like an Integra is better. (more aftermarket parts, faster)

Oh yeah, completely unrelated, but how do you guys pay for insurance for a 94-95ish teg? Would a Prelude or Civic would be cheaper?
For research info, specs, and pricing use: Kbb.com, autotrader, and check out Consumer Reports: Used Car Buying Guide at a bookstore.
