I have the Sparco Litium shift knob. I love it because it is shaped like stock, but the leather is softer than stock. Check it out:

schmoo, you forgot the link

my vote is basically for any decent-looking one covered in leather or vinyl

I'll get it up tonight. I had issues with the server when I posted that, so it doesn't surprise me it didn't show up.

I found it at modacar.com.

Do a google search on "Sparco Lithium shift knob". I think I prefer the "Sparco classic shift knob above it". How is the install? Is it threaded or the standard screwed at the bottom onto the shifter? Also, does it go all the way down to the shift boot?

It isn't threaded. Three allen screws hold it to the shifter. It goes almost all the way down to the boot, but I used some glue to make the boot stick to the metal part of the shift knob.

I've got a gap between the boot and the stock shift knob. Are you saying that the stock shift fork isn't threaded? Can I just keep turning the shift knob to lower it a bit or am I incorrect in this assumption?

What do you mean, shift fork? The shifter is threaded, but the shift knob fits over the threaded portion and is secured very tightly with allen screws. A threaded knob will only go so tight and then bottom out of the threads. You will most likely have a gap unless you use some glue to secure the boot to the knob.

But anyway, here is my picture. Hopefully it works this time:
