Default HP an torque gains?

How much HP do you think I would gain with the installation of Crower 404
cams with new retainers and springs on top of a recent rebuild with
addition of type R pistons, rings with a slight overbore. The head was
also milled. Also, what do you think the new redline will be. Just
curious.

Thanks,

Kartman

Default HP gains

I forgot to add that my son has a 95 LS. It had a tired motor with 160,000
before the rebuild. Motor was clean with initial tear down.

Thanks

You're going to need to add a vtec head to make any real gains with that setup. You're still using the original LS head right?

thats wrong, it just wont be nearly as effcient.

I suggest getting the head ported. the redline is more dependent on the crank and rod assemblies so as long as the rod bolts have been changed out you should be able to push it to 7.5 or so, dont expect any gains up there until you upgrade the camshaft tho.

I find kartman2 so confusing. I thought he was going for a minimal rebuild on the engine and in about a year, put on a CARB legal turbo. And keep in mind, this car is being built as a FIRST car for a 16 year old who doesn't even have his license yet.

Doug, who is this mechanic of yours? Is he experienced in performance engine builds? If so, I'm surprised that you don't just go with his advice totally. For some reason, I see this project of yours wavering a lot in its course. There is never any clear direction or goal.

Default my sons LS

Sorry for the confusion. I appreciate everyones advise and knowledge. At
one point we we're not quite sure if we were going all motor of F/I. As it
stands now, the engine has been rebuilt for eventual F/I/ Sorry you
got confussed.

Default LS rebuild

Just saw engine today and it looks great. Yes, forged pistons were used.
New rebuilt head will also be used. Should make for a good motor.
