Default For the G3 Owners: What Tranny do you have?

for the 94+ owners i'm dong a poll...What tranny do you have in your teg - Y80 or S80? yes they're the same but i have a Y80 while EVERYONE i know with a teg has an S80...so pick yours.

btw...if you don't know, open your hood and look for a sticker on your transmission, to the left of the block stamp, and you'll see [Y80/S80] - ########## ('#' = random serial numbers). Thanks!

How about my lame-ass LS tranny?

I want to replace it w/ a GSR tranny, but use the LS 5th gear.

It would appear that way to me. Maybe I just suck at driving or something, or my car isn't making enough power. I doubt that's the case though.

My friend went LS/VTEC with his 91 LS, and his tranny is what is holding him back. That's the reason why I say lame-ass.

Theres only .1 - .2 seconds difference. AndThey are slightly harder to launch.

uh, no...i have a 94 LS w/ the Y80 tranny. EVERYONE else i know with a teg whether its a GSR, SE/LS/RS, or ITR have the S80 tranny.

The only difference i read is what LSD you can put into it. Helical in the S80 and the other kind (forget the name, whoops!) in the Y80.

Why do so many people make such a big deal about the gearing on the LS then? If you're going boost it's better than a GSR tranny, blah blah.

I'd think it's a bit more than .1-.2
