Default Car wont shift

So today i was driving and i felt that my car wasn't shifting properly, i knew there was a problem, also, the shifts were jerky. I was about to pull over after i noticed it, but as i was shifting i couldnt put it in any gear. So basically i started coasting... I pulled over in a turning lane to check under the hood.

I check my Hydrolic tank to see if i had fluid, and i did. I wasn't leaking from my Master or Slave cylinder. The clutch still had pressure, i just couldnt put it in gear.

Now, next thing i decide to do. Since im holding up traffic and there is no way im pushing it in flip flops across an intersection. So here is what i try. I turn the car off and then im able to put it in gear that way, but when i start the car, even with the clutch ALL the way down, it stalls.... so basically when the light turned green i did that agian, and right before it stalled i reved up and was able to drive it to the side of the road after i turned.

Now i tried that once more, and now i cant even turn the car on!!! Its like the starter or something is now shot, it wouldnt even turn over... now i cant start my car... but can still shift the gears while its off. So i had to call a towing service and get the car taken to Acura... This sucks...

What do you all think my problem is? i was thinking syncro's but im not sure even, and why wont my car start?? thanks for the ideas everyone..

it sounds like it's more than one problem... did you have ANY CEL's at all or no?... i think the first one is the clutch going completely (happened to me)

-when was the last time you replaced the clutch?

and i think the second problem (car not starting) is possibly ur alternator/starter/battery having some issues..make sure to check cap/rotor/wires/plugs/starter.... that sucks that it would all happen at once.. but it's the only logical solution i can think of

good luck

Well only 50k miles on the car, so basically i think its like the clutch isnt engaging and i just need to replace the clutch, and as for the car dying, its not the battery but it could be the starter. was thinking alternator but that and the belt is fine, so it has to do with something from the repeative stalling out from the clutch being gone.

Also, what is the CEL you are talking about?

And i have never replaced the clutch its self, but i have replaced the master and slave.

Yes i did check, im not losing any fluids, no CEL on, i still have pressure to the clutch, and my resiovor tank is still full. I think i have to replace the clutch, but as far as the car not even starting anymore.... still not sure on that, maybe plugs or something??

well it's not going to be plugs/wires because u said it's not even turning over. There is a better chance it's the starter not getting power or just the starter died. It doesn't sound like you need to replace the clutch, have u bottomed out or anything? on the shifter does it feel loose or rough at all... or is it just like normal (when the car is off)

well WHILE i was driving, the shifting was very very rough/tight. I mean like i had to push hard to get it in gear, thats when i knew i had a problem. its fine when the car is off, but it will absolutly not go into gear when the car was on, but now of course the car wont even turn on, but that problem came last.

So... still a little weary, i think i mightve killed the starter from stalling out so much perhaps but i still think my clutch is gone.

And no i havent bottomed out or anything

it's possible that you killed the starter... when your driving after you get it into first gear... are you able to move it into any other gears easily (i say this because usually when the clutch goes..the other gears aren't as bad as first *1st gear = no synchros*)... my clutch went at about 60,000 do u drive the car hard at all... hard shifts etc

Ok, just got a call from Acura, He said the clutch and pressure plate needs to be replaced.

He said i need an aftermarket clutch since all the work that is done down there: I bought the car with aftermarket clutch parts, i say it like that because im not sure what he did, i never opened it up down there, I know its a quick engage, vey stiff clutch. I figured it was just a lightenend flywheel, not sure. Thats why i had to exhange master and Slave soon soon cause the added pressure from aftermarket.

Yes i autocross twice a month, other than that i open it up occasionally, but i dont drive it hard for the most past, i respect it very much.

Hope that cleared a few thiggs up, and i really appriciate the help.

yeah with the autocross that sounds about right... it's weird that the clutch went... u said the previous owner replaced it with an aftermarket... it was probably just a low rent job that wasn't worth what he paid for it... i would suggest getting ur car from acura... towing it to ur local mech and having him change the clutch out for a ACT HDSS or something along those lines... or u could do w/e u want... research clutches and toss out some ideas of what you want out of it
