Default Auto tranny problem

I was wondering if any of you had any insight to a strange problem that is occurring in a 94 LS automatic.......Anyways, the car will go for about 300-500 feet, then not respond (fall into neutral). Then, if you let the car sit for 10-15 minutes and restart it will go another another 200-300 ft.

Could this be a control(solenoid/liquid) issue and not a gear issue?

Could it be internal seals not holding, (i.e. after the fluid heats and becomes thin, it can't hold pressure to keep it in gear)?

Anyone had any experience with a similar problem? Or, should I just forget it and get a new tranny to put in?

Any B series auto tranny should work, right?

All B-Series Tranny's are interchangable
