I already bought a new gear so what does the gear have to do with vtec
Its for your speedometer not the engine or transmission

One of the factors involved in the ECU's decision to engage VTEC is the vehicle speed sensor.

Will that screw the Vtec up if I go and get it done just to drive to the place and have them check the calibration then go home and put the new one in??????
Thanks qtiger

You might throw a check engine light or two, but I don't think your car will enter limp mode...

You probably won't screw up anything. I don't think the vtec engages based on the SPEED but the RPM. I can engage the vtec just reving the engine out of gear. The gear he is talking about is is not part of the engine or tranny, its a gear that basically winds the speedo around the dial.

You can grind it down do whatever you want, problem is the officer may ask why you didnt mention the improper speedo when he pulled you over, and a slew of other things. I would suggest a lawyer help you out.

Well if the officer says that I am going to say I didn't know it was off. The first thing I asked him was why he pulled me over and he said I got you for 73 in a 55. I said I was going the speed limit. So I'll just go screw it up and get it callibrated and show the receipts and say this might be the reason why I thought I was going the speed limit.

VTEC will not engage if the car is stopped.
