Default HID Questions

I plan on getting HID's for the integra. I've deciced just to go with a plug and play setup for the time being. If I feel the need to retrofit, then I will do it then, but I'll try the plug and play setup first, simply because its cheaper and not a PITA.

So, onto the real question. What brands should I be looking into? What kind do you have? What are the -/+ of that brand?

If you have some pictures of your setup, that would be great. Also state if you retrofitted, or just used plug and play.

Also, say I would get a plug and play kit, and if I then decided to go retofit, would I be able to use that kit, and just get some projectors? Or would I have to go with completely new oem ballasts/ignitors/bulbs?

Thanks

I have a HID kit on my car and if I were to do it again, I would seriously consider a retrofit before going out and buying an inferior HID kit.

Here is a link to my DIY HID kit installation and other debate over the retrofit vs. kit: https://www.honda-acura.net/forums/s...hlight=HID+DIY

Here is a picture of my cutoff:

As you can see, the cutoff is decent, but there are some nasty hot spots and a bit of glare. All of these problems can easily be solved with a retrofit and you will see better light output.

I got my kit from Xenith Xenons for $250 shipped. He is on Honda-tech these days and can offer you any light output you want with the base you want. If you choose to buy a kit, his kits are great and offer a one year warranty against any problems.

Just save up, take your time, and do a retro man. Believe me, you will be much happier. I just finished a TSX retro in my prelude and it was SOOO worth the time and money. To answer your question about upgrading to a retrofit after the plug and play kit, you could possibly use the ballasts, but I would recommend everything being OEM brand. I havn't taken any night shots of my setup yet, but will ASAP.

Well, after thinking about it more, I'm gonna do it right the first time and just do a retrofit.

I was looking into this "kit", the top one of the page.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks alot guys

Man, that seems like a really good price? $369 for the kit? I'm interested. So what's the catch? :eh:

How's the install? I mean, is it something that can be done easily at home with simple hand tools? How long should it all take, with the retrofit kits I mean?
