GSR or 2.5RS

umm...the 240sx is a real nice car. I would look at one. You can turbo the KA and get globs of torque and horsepower out of it and you can also always swap in a sr20det. If you don't like the looks just do an s15 front end conversion.

But the GSR is cheaper and theres more available mods for it, but its FF, which i dont like. What do you guys think?

I would still rather have a GSR. You can't deny the coolness of the B-series aftermarket.

You can talk all you want about enthusiast sites and what people run and how its so easy to boost an RS...
Its not easy. They do have tranny problems. A turbo RS will get smoked by a WRX with MBC & exhaust. A turbo RS has nowhere near the potential of a WRX or DSM without tons and tons of cash, patience, tuning, and a garage, because the car wont be daily driven.
Drive an RS. They're slow. If an intake and exhaust shave a second off the 1/4, then they go from 17sec cars to 16sec cars. They are slow, and hard to make quick. AWD and good looks is all its got going for it...

yea, the swaps are getting more and more popular among the 2.5RS guys who want reliable power. it will cost you ~3-5k for the motor depending on where you buy it plus another couple grand for the install. I've seen quotes ~$7-8k for parts and labor.
For a bit cheaper route, you can look at the turbo kits for the 2.5RS. The more popular ones are ludespeed (http://ludespeed.com/home.html), forced air tech (www.forcedairtech.com) and vishnu performance turbo kit(www.vishnuperformance.com)
Most low end kits will cost at least $2k and the higher end around $4-5k. These kits can be done by yourself or you can spend more and pay someone to do it for you if you're not too confident with your mechanic skills.
For starting out your turbo, you wouldn't want to go over 8 psi. Starters usually go ~5 psi of boost, but don't let the low boost fool you. Properly tuned RS-T's that run 5 psi of boost can eat stock wrx's for breakfast (flame suit on). Once you ask for more power, you're gonna be spending more, larger injectors, i'd recommend a standalone ecu to properly tune it.
Check out www.i-club.com, aftermarket forced induction forum. There's a sticky on top of that forum that will explain lots of things for you about putting forced induction in the ej25.
btw, i hate i-club. they are pretty tough on the n00bs, and the only advice they offer of worth is "RUN A SEARCH!!!" check out www.clubwrx.net much more friendly, more intellligent threads rather than "dude, that's so RICE!" every 15 minutes. we've got auto enthusiasts from all lines, including mustangs, vettes, handa/acura, nissan and toyota.

Thats the whole problem with it...
To me, you spend $5000 on a turbo kit, not including installation/dyno time, then tune it and possibly get a TecII...you're looking at a TON of cash. And for what? To beat your buddies Mom's stock WRX wagon? That doesnt fly with me.
You drop $5k into a $3k 1G DSM....AWD 11sec stoplight monster! Even with the original comparison with a GSR...if you want to eventually turbo either car, the GSR hands down is the way to go, both cost-effectively and performance wise. And if you want to stay NA, there's not even room for discussion
To me, turbo'ing an RS just isnt even in reality. It costs too much money, and for what you get, its not even worth it.

he doesn't want a DSM, he said gsr or rs. and to be honest, the costs to turbo and tune the GSR are VERY comparable. ~$3K for all the parts is reasonable for any N/A car's turbo kit. ~$5K for the full shabang, runnning 12 psi, and running 11's in the quarter.

i'm not trying to sway anyone here, he just asked for the facts, i helped him out the best i could.

I just wouldnt consider the RS...there is too much available elsewhere that is better in terms of both drivetrain and performance.
