I had a similar problem this summer. Try turning the key with the clutch at different heights - there is a clutch neutral safety switch connected to the pedal and it may have a bad connection - it seemed to work for me. I would have to turn the key 3 or 4 times and adjust the clutch height in between - that seemed to help. However, I believe my starter was also dying (95 ls) since it would progressively get worse. I replaced the starter myself which turned out to be a nightmare. It would have only taken about 2 hours but the new starter I bought wouldn't bolt in right (the mounting hole was off just a hair). I returned it and got a new one .. same problem. I tried a different store - same problem. At this point I thought I was crazy but, I fixed the situation by taking the part of the starter that connects to the engine off of the old starter and put it on the new starter. I pretty much used parts from the old starter and new starter to make one that would fit and work. Hopefully you won't have the same problem.
Also, check the negative ground for corrosion. My bro's 91 accord has similar problems and I ended up ripping out the battery and alternator to get them tested. Turns out they were both good and the problem was a stupid $7 negative ground that took 5 minutes to get out.

yeah that was a nightmare - at least the original lasted 115,000 so I doubt i'll be facing the same situation any time soon. But come to think of it that isn't the only part that hasn't fit perfectly - the knobs on the rear brake pads stick out too far and so the pads get stuck in the caliper bracket and won't move back and forth 0- i had to grind those down with a grinding wheel. I think I learned my lesson with aftermarket parts . .it is too bad too because I get a discount at Napa. Next thing I replace will be dealer only.

yeah... i usually do that...or directly from another one...when im doing OEM parts.... are u sure your car wasn't hit pretty bad before you got a hold of it....weird that nothing fits
