Default VR6 vs. GS-R

Last night i totalled my GTI VR6 avoiding a cat and i went rocketing up the pole to ground powerlines , ouch! anyway, i loved my gti, but i am considering a integra GS-R. i've seen the numbers and really that means nothing. I would like to know the following

Fun factor (How fun is the GS-R compared to GTI)?
Handleing (Stock Vs Stock)?
How bad is the tourqe difference?
How noticable is the power difference?
My VW was VERY reliable slolom racer are GS-Rs realiable after mods?
Im into Slolom racing is the GS-R good for modding?
Lastly what are quality places to get performance for a track goer such as i?

Your help is very much appreiciated!

the quarter times an 0-60s are real close but i think the biggest upset would be losing two cylinders an the torque that comes with them.. ive never driven either cars so im just putting in what i think.. sorry to hear about the gti

the difference in lower-end torque will be a good bit...I've driven stock GTI VR6s and my car, an SE which has the same torque as a GSR, and I can tell you the torque difference in noticeable. GSRs have i believe 127lb-ft stock, and I'm sure VR6s have more that that...bigger displacement, more cylinders.

what's certainly fun about integras is their rev-happiness. I'm not entirely sure, but I think the redline on non-vtec 'tegs is higher than on VR6s, and redline on GSRs is like 1k higher than the non-vtec 'tegs, so with a GSR you're gonna get a higher redline...and there's also the sounds of the secondary intake manifold runners kicking in, then VTEC kicking it in (not very noticeable on stock GSRs)...which are always fun

as far as handling, I think that a GSR would prolly do a bit better than a GTI VR6 when modded, primarily because of the weight difference...I'm not sure about exact numbers, but I'm pretty sure the integras are lighter overall. also, with regards to weight...in my eyes, integras look perfectly fine with 15" wheels, whereas GTIs look better with 16" or 17", just cause of the lines of the car...what I'm talking about here is rotating mass, where it's a lot easier to get lightweight 15" wheels, but harder (and more expensive) to get lightweight 16" or 17" wheels...I got 15x7 Falken Hanabis (weigh only 11lbs each!) wrapped in 205/50 R15 Falken Ziex ZE512s, and I am definitely noticing a huge difference with the 5-lbs less rotating mass at EACH corner, not to mention that those tires have ridiculously outclassed my stock suspension, and they're like middle of the range UHPAS tires (cost me $50-some each)...aah, the advantages of not heavy cars...

as you can see, there's a lot of ups and downs with each car, so I'd suggest you find a dealership with a GSR and test drive it...see if you like it.

I feel as though i could go on forever about differences and comparing these two cars, so if you want, feel free to PM, email, or IM me whenever you want.

before i got my GSR i was hella looking for a GTI VR6...but i thought about it and the way i drive i would have broke something that would have cost me way more than with an integra...so i just stuck to the integra.
sorry to hear about ur car that sucked u should have just ran over the cat....a cat or my car?...the cat

never driven the GTI but ill tell you that i love my GSR. the fact that i can brin git up to 7500+ and then shift is a great feeling. I wish i had more HP and TQ..........but thats why im going turbo. handing is real nice IMO and they are cheap to fix and mod. they got everything for tegs. just make sure if you get one no becareful and not to have TOO much fun=)

statements have obviously already been made, but I figured i'd give a second opinion...

mind you I didn't bother to read KaBlookie's entire post... i got faith he left good words and opinions.

Fun factor (How fun is the GS-R compared to GTI?)):
I've driven both, and prefer the GS-R more... kickin' vtec in someone's face is always fun.
Handling (Stock Vs Stock?):
Can you go around a 90 degree turn going 60 in your VR6?
[b]How bad is the tourqe difference?:[?]
The not great thing about honda builds is the torque curve.. if you're looking directly for performance.. it's not really a horrible thing, but off the line, lotsa stuff will give you trouble, but you'll be granted with pretty much instant highway speed dominance.... all of their balls come in at higher rpm ranges, vtec is a gorgeous thing... and hitting vtec in 1st & 2nd gear is far from a hard task, so it's not that much of a set back... the fact that it's got variable valve timing makes for them to still be an excellent car economically as well, given you can have the self discipline to not red-line through every gear at every stop light (Many cannot resist hah, but it's ok, because honda engines can handle constant reptative redlines.)
How noticable is the power difference?:
You'll feel the difference, and might not like it at first... but I think the car ought to end up being suprisingly satisfying.
My VW was VERY reliable slolom racer are GS-Rs realiable after mods?:
GS-Rs, given their stance, and weight difference, and all-way disc brakes (can't remember if the vr6 had all discs, or discs/drums?) will probably result in better times.
Im into Slolom racing is the GS-R good for modding?:
definitley... if you're all out about it, keep in mind a carbon fiber sun-roof replacement... it removes roughly 30ish lbs from the top of your car, which draaastically increases your center of gravity's reliability...
Lastly what are quality places to get performance for a track goer such as i?: Depends on the set up you want... Forced induction? N/A? check out the sponsor pages... and just try and search around for decent deals..
there is, however a company called Comptech, that kinda specializes in our cars, so scope them out, cuz they know what they're doing.... stay away from "ebay +20whp chip!" and stuff... but if you're into this type of thing already, i shouldn't have to tell you that.

Your help is very much appreiciated!

Hope I added some type of additional information that'll help!

Dude VR6's would beat a GSR overall cause I have a 98 VR6 and its pretty damn quick and I have raced a SI civic and I smoked it but you can also add a lot more horsepower to a GSR because everything for them is soo cheap and everything for vr6's is soo expensive.

I raced a VR6 in Palmdale once (LACR) and it was close but I took him by about 1/2 a car. Not sure if it was his driving, or what but in comparison my car was quicker that day w/a CAI and Catback exhaust. I love my GSR though, It's got over 85k miles and I still look forward to driving it everyday. Like it is something new to me.

I love VW's also had 4 74 Superbeetles. Now Gsr vs VR6 I'd take GSR 1)Better car overall 2) resale better 3) more aftermarket items 4) reliable after all its Honda related 5) I have a 98 Sonic Blue Gsr 6) Hp they are close but of course VR6 more torque Test drive a Gsr or if you're going new you want the Type S Rsx Gsr replacement
