Default Blinking oil light

OK so this morning the oil light comes on, then this afternoon it starts blinking. I know theres been threads about this, i searched. But found no deffinant answer on what the problem is. It has plenty of oil, no leaks, nothing like that. The only other suggestion that i saw was the oil pump, which is timing belt driven if im not mistaken. I just had a timing belt and a water pump put on it, wish i would have thought to go ahead and replace that while i was at it. Could it be anymore possable causes. And how much does the average shop charge to replace the oil pump, any help is greatful. Thanks

It could be the sending unit or whatever it is that measures the level of oil.

It is at the back of the block above the oil filter. Check to make sure it is plugged into the harness and try a known good one.

well just to let you guys know, it has a new sending unit on it and the light still blinks and it has plenty of oil pressure which would rule out the oil pump right? its still in the shop though.....

Did they test the oil pressure with a gauge? Thats weird. Was it a oem sending unit? If ithas good oil pressure Id say not to worry about it.
