even at 192k miles, you've got a long long time before that car will die... given it's been taken decent care of, and you remember to take good care of it... always change yur oil, keep it clean..

some advice/suggestions:
¤ Don't rice it out, keep it clean cut.
¤ Let your car warm up before you think about bringing it up into vtec..
¤ Drive safe/smart.
¤ Don't trust the man.
¤ You may sometime notice a "Rattle" around 3,000rpm.. normal, it's a 'defect' of a rusted stock heat shield and/or exhaust manifold.
(exhaust, not intake, right guys? I forget.) Either way, its not going to effect your car, but take away from your ride... i hate being reminded every shift, that i've gotta get that fixed.

oh yeah, and welcome to HAN.

Why not just find out the condition of the current engine (compression test). Take care of it or just simply rebuild it?

Unless you mean you want to drive your b18c1 into the ground then buy a b18c5?

Yeah the rattling is from the exhaust. At 192000 miles though, i think the previous owner would have gotten sick of if 100000 miles ago and ripped that shit out.

Other things are..a rattling hatch from the inside, which if you search is easily fixable.

Make sure the timing belt and water pump were replaced recently. If not, do them both ASAP. They should have been done around 180k.
