Default Looking to buy in the 80 - 97 range

Any Ideas on a good car in the 80 -97 range. Tell me facts on motors, trannies, accessories, mileage limitations, durability and any other known problems? Give me a run down on body style changes and motor mods from year to year(stock OEM, NOT AFTERMARKET!) Thanks for the help!

uh, this is a very general post. You need to get more specific. You know how many cars that were made in this time period? If your looking for a teg, you have 3 generations to choose from. Gen 1 which is 86-89. Gen 2 90-93 and Gen 3 94-01. Then you have the different model levels. It all depends on how much money you want to spend and what performance you want.

Ok now are getting somewhere. I appologize for the vagueness of the post. I would like a four door and that should help limit the possibilities. I have'nt had time to try and find all the models which you speak of but what I want from you guys is preferences and opinions as well as facts on motor and longevity. Thanks for the post.

I have used the search button and have many more questions for the experts! Tell me about the diferences in the Gs LS and RS? did they come with diferent engines or trannys? Are there more after market parts available for one than the others? Is there an advantage/disadvantage in the sedan vs the coupe? Is there anyone intellegent enouf here to step up to the plate?

um GS/LS/RS = 1.8L inline 4, 142hp (non-VTEC)
GS-R = 1.8L inline 4, VTEC, 170hp

GS-R only comes in manual, IMO i would try to find a GS-R sedan over a coupe....but both of em ROCK!

GS/LS/RS come with the option of manual or automatic.

you should really try looking at the basics on autotrader.com, cars.com.....
