Default Aem Intake 98 Gsr

My buddy & I installed AEM short ram intake on gsr. Its polished. It went pretty smooth except for the filter. Its like K&N rewashable. The bad thing is the inside lip I had to shave off for filter to fit. It finally fitted after that. You should not have to cut on anything for fitment. Anyways love the sound of the VTEC. The Vtec is not as loud w/ intake as like my B16A1 in my Civic . Look out for that problem if anyone order a AEM intake...

You had the shave the inside of the filter? So it would fit over the pipe or so it would go on further? If you did it to get it on the pipe then ok, but if you did it to get in on further, the filter is made that way which pretty much tells you when to stop pushing it onto the end of the intake pipe.

I never had that problem with mine. It must be due to a longer than normal K&N filter. If you use the provided AEM filter, it will fit just fine.

I have the polished one as well. It looked really nice in the engine bay.

Now get a header and exhaust to complement the intake.

i got an aem cai and it came in gray but i had to spray it black cause i coudln't deal with the color... only thing bad is if you eventually replace your IM with the skunk2 one your going to need to buy a new intake.

or the intake will rub the underside of your hood and dent. as did mine. spraying the intake, isnt that bad for air flow? what about spraying an intercooler?

If you are spraying the outside, it probably won't do anything.

I have my intercooler painted black with no problems, so it is fine as long as the coats are thin.

Only on the CAI, short rams will still fit the skunk2 intake mainfold with no problem

It was the AEM intake provided. After we tightened it up started car up it would just fall off so thats why I had to shave the inside some. Its fine now.. Next Im getting the DC sports 4-2-1 ceramic header & when I have the money going w/ Apex ws 2. When Vtec kicks in not as loud as my 91 Civic si w/ B16A1.
