AEM are nice pads. If you don't mind the dust, I recommend Axxis Ultimates. They have saved my ass numerous times and they bite really hard. Couple those with a set of OE Brembo rotors and it will be one nice setup.

i figured since it didnt require any more pressure to stop that the brake system is fine and that it's prolly just the pads screwing with it...

Check fluid level
EBC backing plates rust out very quickly in northern climates/salted roads. Also, never put Greens on the front, only rear. Reds for front, if your gonna use them. Nice combo for great stopping power, just not economical as I had to replace within two years.
I'm happy with OEM. Last long time.

Obviously going from 100-0 in a matter of seconds is going to make any brake as useful as a pencil eraser. EBC brakes are used on formula cars, nascar, cart racing, and most motorcycle racing applications (their specialty).
I've used EBC brakes with the last 4 cars that I have had, each with varying degrees of modification from little (Grand Am) to extreme (Grand National) and had only one issue with premature wear in which they replaced the brakes and even hooked me up with brand spankin' new cross drilled rotors after I sent them pics of the damage.
If you don't like dust, go green. If you want to stop right quick and don't mind the dust, go red.
