Default teh noobs gauge

Just a question about my dash guages..

I've just blown my RS's non-VTEC b18b motor and swapped a b18c1 motor in its place. Now, my tech says the b18b's dash gauge will be just fine, but doesn't the ECU report tach et al. differently than the b18c1's ECU?

I'd like to put an AC EL gauge face in there... can I put a GSR AC EL gauge face on the b18b gauge bezel? In the end, I want a GSR AC EL gauge. Let me know what I gotta do (one of the two below options):

b18b bezel with GSR faces?
b18c1 bezel with GSR faces?

BTW: I'm not looking for opinions here, just facts about compatability.

Thanks!

b18b bezel with GSR faces?-wont work. your tach is going to be way off.

compare tachs

b18c1 bezel with GSR faces? yes

but since you have the gsr ecu, it might work with just gauge covers. i dunno

ok word.

next up: how is my RS cluster going to react to a GSR ECU???
is it just the gauge faces that matter or is their circuitry that interprets the ECU's signals?

for example, is my RS cluster going to read the GSR ECU okay, or will a GSR cluster only go with GSR ECU?

Fuel, temp. and all other standard gauge instruments should be the same. It's the rpms & mph that may come out different because of the change you have made in motors. I would just swap in a gsr cluster or install aftermarket rpm and mph gauges?

So just the gauge faces need to go?
I'm just wondering if the gauge faces are all that is different about the clusters.

under further reading. it should work, no problem. your ls will read the correct rpm's

goodie gumdrops. now all i have to do is not unlearn to respect the red line (of the LS tach) and this motor will last forever even if i beat it like the red headed RS that it was.

its gonna be hard getting use to since you have to go 1000 rpms into the redline of the ls tach.

No. You will need a new gauge cluster..which means the entire gauge assembly that bolts and plugs into the dash.

The mechanical internals of the RS/LS/GS gauge cluster are different from those of the GSR and ITR. You cannot just swap gauge faces.
