Timing belt
Guys please help me
I have an acura integra 1995. I bought this from my friend. There was no problem with the car. As per acura recommendation , i went to change my timing belt at 90,000 mile. The place where i took the car is a good car mechanic shop. The charged me 400$ to change the timing belt and for oil change( they said there is a need to change the oil when the timing belt is replaced). When i started the car ,it started to shake ,lots of jitter , i have to press the accelerator so hard to make the car move. When i switched on the AC
the car started to shake. I went to the mechanic shop again they said they have to replace the spark plugs and wire(cost 162$). I want to know whether there is any chance of breaking the spark plugs when they removed the timing belt.I dont know anything about cars.
Please help me with this and what should i do, what is the exact problem with the car.
Thanks

400 for a timing belt & oil change? Why so much? Never heard you have to change the oil right when you change the timing belt. Although I usually recommend changing out the "water pump" whenever you get your timing belt done.
The car should not shake whatsoever, if it didn't beforehand after a timing belt replacement if it was done right...which sounds to me it wasn't. I would suggest taking it to another mechanic (if you're not mechanically incline) to have them check to see if the belt was replaced appropriately..that they set it to TDC correctly and check timing with a timing gun. I wouldn't take it back to them until I find out what kind of damage they may have done and have them pay for it.
And no, your spark plugs should not be broken from having a timing belt replaced..unless some serious detonation may have caused it...which would not be a problem if they had did everything correctly.

chances are they messed up the timing. do not take your car back there cuz they probably ripped you off. first thing i would have done is to check that the timing is correct by using a timing gun. if its off, then you need to get the timing belt installed again.

Does that shop warranty their work? Like the others said, it sounds like your timing may be off. Timing belt may be off by a tooth, maybe. As a last resort if you can't find any competent mechanics in your local area you may want to just bring your car to the nearest acura dealer and have their techs take a look at the car.
Oil change during timing belt change = not necessary. The only other fluid change they may have done at the time is your coolant, but probably only if they replaced your water pump.

$400 for a timing belt change is not so mentle priced. The cheapest place for labor I could find is $250 for just the labor, its pretty labor intensive as well but I can do it in 4 hours. I bought a new belt+tensioner and belt for $100 new, I also got cam seals and a new cam cap and front crank seal while I was there.
Sounds like the sjop that did it set the timing off because if its not pretty close then you will have like you said less power. Make sure the mark on the lower crank gear is pointed to the mark on the block and the cam gears are in the UP position. That sets TDC and route the belt on and loosen the tensioner bolt, turn the motor over 2 or 3 times and then tighten down the tensioner belt. Thats it, c-speedracing.com has an awsome write up on it with color pics.
