Just ask someone who actually knows something about cars, and they'll tell you it's a bad idea to tow with any 4 cylinder FF. Sure you can do it, you can tow a car with a camel if you want to. Trust me. But that doesn't make it right.

 

So what is so bad about using a 4cyl and FF layout? I understand the overloading issue, but your getting at the drivetrian layout, correct?

 

I had a 92 oldsmobile cutlass supreme sl (omg it's long to write). It's a 3.1 v6 that push 140hp 180 lb/torque and it's fwd. It was a charm to tow, since it has more torque than hp like a truck... Now I have a 98 gsr and I'm alosi wondering if it's a good think to put a hitch on it. It adds weight and it's not very cute when you got an oem lip kit... I would tow my atc250r.

 

Guys, its only a bike. It's not like he's towing the family's 20 foot camping trailer. It doesnt weigh a whole hell of a lot, and unless you remove the wheels from the trailer, the traler will support alot fo the weight.

And if you took that trailer with the bike on it, Im sure you could pick up the hitch of it and move around with little effort. It's far harder to move the car itself around, the trailer would be childs play.

 

Yeah I'm going to say that as long as you didn't have any passengers (3 people usually = 500lbs unless it's some hawt girls, in which case we can get like 9 in the Type-R) I might consider it.

 

ive seen quite a few guys towing small trailers to track events be it their motorcycles or slicks for the car they're towing with... i've never felt there are any problems with that minus how the hitch looks hanging from the back of your car.

 

What's the big deal? I don't get it. I know that Acura says not to tow with the Type R. Why is that? The suspension? The different gear ratio in the trans? It a freakin' Honda after all. It can take it! What's so special about the Type R that you are afraid to tow with it?

 

Please explain that comparison?

 

Nobody has yet to give any type (get it, type) of reason why Acura states that you can not tow with a Type R. The only intelligent reason I thought of is the fact that the Type R has a higher compression ratio and with a load such as a small trailer, detonation is possible.
