Default Just got my new clutch and flywheel

I just got my new ACT HDSS clutch kit and Prolite 8.8lb flywheel. It goes in on Saturday.

I had a quick question because one of the reasons I was replacing the clutch was because of the squeaky throwout bearing. Should I use the throwout bearing they supplied or buy an OEM one? Should I regrease whatever I decide to go with to ensure no squeaking?

Also, does the pilot bearing need to be greased at all?

This will be my first DIY clutch job, so I am a little unedumicated. h:

Always thoroughly grease the throwout bearing and the shaft...they squeek because of being unlubricated. Using the bearing they supplied is fine.

Thanks for the advice. I also picked up some 500* high temp grease, should that be sufficient for lubrication?

That should be fine...I usually just use lithium grease.

I've had bad experiences with the TOB's that come with the clutch kit, so I usually go OEM.

I remember hearing that from you, so I had to ask. I guess I will have to decide what I want to do once the time comes. Do the OEM ones come prepacked with grease?

Well the two clutches I have replaced were on Mitsubishi's and yes there were. The TOB's that came with the clutch kits were plastic and if you broke off the two plastic tabs then they were guaranteed to make noises. The OEM TOB was metal and was only about $35.

Shmoo, I'm assuming you got the same kit that I did. The TOB that I got is made out of metal.
Please let me know how the install goes. I have all the bolts, gaskets, seals, and springs that can and will break and I want to make sure I have everything before I attempt this. Can you also post a list of tools you are using? I don't need the sizes of the wrenches/sockets, but the basic tools you are using. I'm wondering if I can do this without an impact wrench.

Good luck and thanks!!
