Default cold air intake causes valve damage

My friends mom works at a auto shop as a clerk. Her and mechanic were telling me how cold air intakes cause valve damage. Cause one or two cylinders run leaner or richer. Something like that basically there is more air flow in one of the cylinder causing valve damage. Has any one else herd this is this true at all. I would like to here some opions on it.

that makes no sense at all, all cylinders draw air from the same intake

If that were the case, the stock intake system would cause the same problem.
